just curious as to the process before i sell my phone. should i do a backup in itunes, then wipe memory and reset to factory settings as discussed in this thread http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/iphone/how-to-wipe-an-iphone-s-memory-50997.html
anything else i need to do other than remove the sim? do i need to deauthorize my computer to work with that iphone so i can just plug in my new one, sync and be done?

You don't need to deauthorize the computer. That's done if you're selling the computer. All you need to do is restore it to factory settings in iTunes and then remove the SIM. You may want to consider jailbreaking and unlocking it after the restore as you can make a lot more money that way.

First of all get to know why would you like to sell it. Then find if there is any problem with your iphone. Talk about the problem specifically with the buyer. Do not hide anything. What I want to say is just try to sell it honestly.

you are supposed to restore it to factory settings and then sync at least 75% of you music on there, then erase it to overwrite the data that was on there previously. its actually rather easy to dig up "deleted" info from a flash memory.

That is completely unnecessary IMO. All you need to do is restore it to factory settings.
