I never before had an issue with the size of the iPhone 3g
that was until i found an ipod touch in a taxi cab last week
32gb second generation and Thin as a business card
This thing just felt so amazing in my hand, slipping it in and out of my pocket
I hope that they can somehow cram all the things needed in the next iphone into the shell of the ipod touch
Have any of you ever played with one ?
It is night and day imo

Thinner would be cool. But I don't want a iPhone Nano or Shuffle.

That's the real question...What did you do with the iPod Touch you found?

he "touched" it

A decision must be made to return it or keep it.

Just remember that, action based on decisions are the result of a certain cause. The cause being thought. Ones thought is a result of his moral understanding.

Just saying. ok

How can he track down the owner? Unless they have e-mail on the touch there is really no way to find the owner.

Oh I'm pretty sure iCafe wouldn't return it even if he knew how. Based on everything he's said on these forums, he's just that kind of sweetie.

There must be ways. I'd start by loo.king for a note or something on the iPod that could identify the owner. If that did not work, I'd try giving the serial number to Apple. They have it registered for iTunes.

He should keep it just as an alternative for something for the Wife to throw at a wall. Sorry I got jokes.

The average person is NOT going to do that for a iPod, let alone for a iPod Touch they found. Apple probably isn't going to give up contact info, just ask you to send it to them.

I'm just amazed Apple crammed a decent video camera and a magnetometer in the 3G to create the 3G S without a change in form factor.

So, iPod Touch is thinner but it lacks:

Phone
GPS
Internet
Camera
Video Camera (3G S)
Compass (3G S)

In other words, most of the major components that actually make the iPhone what it is.

So, then let Apple contact the owner. I'm sure their support would do that.

But, if all avenues are exhausted and the owner could not be located, do the following:

Sleep fine at night knowing that you are now the new rightful owner and all that is possible has been done, and you are in sync with the Universal. :ok:ok

See, by making the attempt, you can not lose. If the owner is found, you have done what will be rewarded in multiples (in so many ways). If the owner is not found, you have gained in multiples (in so many ways). :ok:ok

Aside from me being a jerk on here sometimes i did everything i could to find the owner
There was no itunes/appstore account so no email
no email was set up
no contacts nothing
and the notes were like 20 love notes of a boy and girl from ontario that wrote back and forth on the touch lol young love
there were like 400 albums on the dang thing
i sold it for 260 on craigslist :)

Following up with socal's train of thought, maybe the universe is sending a message here... When you think about it, what are the odds of finding an apple product after a few days earlier 1 got destroyed.

The Universal provides the Infinite. However, its distribution is not equal. One must obtain ones share of the Infinite by adhering to the Law of Attraction. There is no other way. What one gives, one gets (in multiples). :ok:ok

Back to iCafe's question. I remember the first time I actually felt the difference between a touch and an iPhone and felt exactly as you did. The touch is super thin and feels incredible.

That watch is as thick as an iPod touch 2nd generation (thicker maybe), AND it has an external battery!

liberated
07-16-2009, 05:00 PM
Maybe it is thick but dude it's only1 and 3/4 inches long and wide. Maybe if you squashed it flat it would be the same size of an iPhone? I dont think so....oh yea, it has an advantage over the iPhone as you stated a removable battery! LOL

psylichon
07-16-2009, 05:04 PM
Where does that battery go anyway?

liberated
07-16-2009, 05:14 PM
If you were to turn the watch upside down, behing the screen, there's a removable cap where the battery is housed. It is removable, you can charge it via mini USB or pull the battery and put it in an external charger.

Yeah it was a weird turn of events
First my wife broke my iphone (i admit i pushed her to do it)
than i forgive her and get her the new 3gs
while i am still phoneless
then after i buy it i hop in a cab to get back to work (i went to the apple store on my lunch break)
and i find the 32gb ipod touch rite there on the seat
than i sell it on craigslist
for 260
and i sell my broken iphone 3g for 150 (before i sold it i brought it to a non apple repair shop they put a new screen and it still didnt work, motherboard problem and they tried charging me for the new screen, i said no put the broken one back in and i gave him 20 bucks for his time,)
so now i have 410 just enough for the 16gb 3gs at my slightly subsidized price
So im on the line to go buy my new iphone...
2 people in front of me
My mother calls me and asks me if I have the money i owe her (long story)
it was 400 dollars
I was gonna tell her in 2 weeks but the guilt got to me
So i hop off the line and go pay her back
Now im stuck with a blackberry from 1972
until I can save again for the iphone, or maybe find another touch lol

I give you credit there Tom... I would have given my Mom a hallmark card with an IOU slip in it dated for 2 weeks..... unless of course she really needed the money for something important like some oxygen tanks and depends underwear

I think when you strap a brick to your wrist you are stretching the definition of "wrist watch."

Besides, who wears watches any more? That's like, soooo 2006. ;)

Let's not forget, that beautiful sleek touch was so thin it slipped out of the previous owner's pocket and onto the taxi's seat! But in all honesty I hope they don't change the appearance too much. I think it's perfect, make it thinner and that would be great! Oled may make that possible.

This would be cool except for the fact that people don't wear watches anymore... because of CELL PHONES!!!!!

I'll stick with my FAT iPhone. I think the only thing the watch will kill is your eyesight with that terribly small screen. :dft010:smiling

Actually if you bother to read and understand what the intention was when I posted the video on the watch phone you'd see that the intention was to outline the fact that with the iPhone form factor we could have an almost unlimited amount of features. There may be limitations for this to happen but form factor and size is clearly not one of them.

So before you go calling people fools; read and understand the intentions of the post or you risk looking foolish yourself....

My dad has both generation iPod Touches and tbh I agree that they are thinner and do feel very nice...but I wouldn't give up any iPhone functionality just to have that thinner shell. I'm extremely happy with the exterior of my 3GS, it's so sleek and sexy and just fits in my hand so well.... this is the most functional AND classy phone I've ever had.

I think it would be great if the next gen iPhone had a OLED screen but I wonder if the price will be low enough by next year to put this type of technology into the iPhone? The size of my 3G is really quite great for me but I do wish I would have video recording capabilities sometimes. What else would you all want or think they would do for the next gen iPhone?

fury
07-23-2009, 01:35 AM
I for one hope they DO NOT make it any thinner. The iPod touch was much too thin for me to hold comfortably with two hands while typing. It also tended to feel a bit awkward held in one hand. The 3G and 3GS form factor fit my hands perfectly. I could sit here and type for hours on end. Thicker might feel even better. Not too much wider or longer, though.

If you took the phone to an AT&T Store. And the Phone was registered when the Phone was setup and activated, they should be able to contact the owner, expecially of they were using the new MobileMe Service.
