I'm consistently between 148 and 155. Which I think is great considering how bad V1 and my 3G was.

when i have no apps running, i'm usually in the 170's. Depending on the app(s) i'm running, it ranges from 155-165. I have yet to run below 140.

ok with winterboard, phone, mail, sms, and intelliscreen, i drop to 126-137

phone seems to function just fine.. it just seems low.

btw, everytime i kill mail in my process, it immediately comes right back.
is that normal?

Yes, phone and mail constantly run in the background. Even if you kill the process. If you updated SBSettings today, they added Free up memory on the process screen.

I start out at about 160 after a reboot. After some pretty heavy use...I'll go down to about 135.

Because they have the 3GS which has 256MB of RAM and you have a 3G (or V1) which has 128MB of RAM. More RAM to begin with = More Free RAM.

Holy s h i t e!!! What do you have running?! Do you have SBSettings to see what's in your processes?!

Okay. Yeah i have the 3G. Is that normal for the 3G? Also the only process thats running is phone, and mail.

Yeah, 32MB is pretty normal. You can get an app called memoryinfo (or iSTAT or freememory) that will free up memory if you start running low, or you can just respring. sbsettings now has a "free memory" button under the processes toggle, but it hasn't worked for me, either it has a threshold lower than where I have tried to use it, or it just doesn't work (or play well with the apps I have).

ok. I thought you had a 3GS. Like shutter said, it's pretty normal for the 3G.

I have a 3gs and when I use my phone and check my mem with istat, I have about 70-90. One time it went down to something like 57. it's weird. And then I'll free up memory and it'll go back to 160.

I am not jailbroken, no push email, not even auto fetching. Location service off. All I have are apps from the appstore.

I'm kinda getting worried that I'm reading ppl having over 100 even after heavy usage.

I think until all the apps we have on our phone have been update to work with the 3.0 software...we are going to see varying memory usage. Keep in mind, the 3G works just fine on 3.0 with only 5-10 MB free. So even at 70 MB free your phone is gonna run fine. The thing that worries me is that there is some process stuck in memory that is gonna chew up the battery.

I've seen mine as high as 180 after a reboot. To as low as 110 while running Cydia.

I wish I could provide an average, but it jumps around so frequently for seemingly no reason, that it would be impossible to determine.

If I had to guess, I'd say with apps running, other than Cydia, I'm usually around 120-140. App-less, 150-165.

Either way, I think this is perfectly acceptable. Having over 50% total memory free while working, is something I can only dream of on my laptop.

Not to mention that I'm convinced the extra memory in the 3GS is the reason why I've been so lucky in avoiding noticeable lag from JB'ing.

I've seen my memory dip as low as 70 and peak as high as 165 after a respring. What's remarkable is I have not been able to perceive any lag at the low end. The 3gs is truly a jailbreaker's delight.
