I've seen styli sales for the iphone. I just recently went from Windows Mobile smartphones to iphone. I'm finding it hard to press correct keys on keypad. I need to re-enter Contacts information and a stylus would make it much easier. How do I 'turn' this feature on? PLEASE HELP!

I didnt think that stylus' worked for the Iphone as it worked off the magnetism through your fingers i think - but ive just done a quick google and seems like there are some available.
The icons for the iPhone are quite big though, have you tried landscape keyboards etc?

Hey Croucher, thanks for the reply. I didn't think a stylus would work either, maybe it's a gimmick. I did try the landscape keyboard and that works a lot better. Thanks a lot for the help.

A suggestion if I may -
When I entered my contacts in for the first time, I found it much easier to do from the computer, and sync the phone afterwards.

So if you meet someone in the street, what would you do? ;) . Practical for contacts you already have, but for new ones, you need to be able to input them to the phone

I have them call me/send me a text so at least that's one less thing I have to enter! I don't find it particularly painstaking to add contents, I usually edit them on my mac so the Caller picture doesn't take up the whole screen anyways.

I agree, i usually (eventually) put them into my mac address book (mainly for back up and the picture issue). However, you still should be able to press the "buttons" on your iPhone ;)

I think this is a bunch of crap. The touchscreen needs body heat. Make your fingers really cold, doesn't work too well...

It doesnt use body "heat", it uses electric current that runs through your body... Cooling your hands down really doesnt affect things much.

The stylus works like this...

Yes, it senses where our body draws current away from the screen.
Cooling your hands down really doesnt affect things much.
Depends on the person.
As far as the screen is concerned, our bodies are conductive bags filled with water. The reason we're so conductive is because of the many blood filled capillaries directly under our skin.
When we get cold, blood is withheld from our skin surface and we become less conductive. With some people, it's enough that a capacitive screen doesn't work so well.
I first programmed for capacitive screens back in 1990 or so. There were people for whom they didn't work, for various reasons, from makeup to callouses to unknown factors.

They do work on the iPhone, and they actually work quite well. I have two of them. I have a silver pogo sketch for my MacBook and a red pogo stylus for my iPhone. I never use them, so I asked my brother if he wanted one and he just politely smiled and said no, lol. I'm going to be putting my never used Limited Edition Darius silver iPhone case up on eBay and including the silver Stylus for free.

^ Exactly!
That's why I never use them. I got them because I thought it would help increase my typing speed, which it did, but I still never use it.

Why use a stylus when you can just use your finger?
Why sign a check with a pen instead of a 1/2 inch paintbrush? Why draw a schematic or blueprint with a pencil and ruler, when fingerpaints are readily available?
I will pull out a stylus sometimes to draw a quick diagram (with measurements) of a room before I go to Home Depot to get stuff. A finger drawing wouldn't cut it for me.
There's also people out there who might have prosthetic hands, or wear gloves, or have very large fingers, or have other reasons for using a stylus.

lol Apple. IMHO. Did that make it better?

Apple intended the touchscreen to be as intuitive as can be with your fingers touching the screen. Pretty much the OS was designed and built for fingers.
I'd love to sign a check with a paintbrush.... as soon as i ever need to sign a check. Plastic is much faster.
You could always add a personal hand drawn touch to your schematics. pun intended.
If you have a prosthetic hand(s) you probably dont have a mostly buttonless touchscreen phone. Even with Voice control it would still be difficult, and god forbid you drop it.
There are Gloves specially made to interact with the screen. They have little receptors on each finger tip.
Large fingers should have little to no issues on touch screen. The phone is built to be used with fingers so its very precise and im pretty sure apple used tiny/med/avg/large fingers in R&D) If a person with large fingers cant use a touchscreen then i dont think theres much hope for them on a qwerty.
