iPhone backup taking too long

Hi, i'm new to all this but had my laptop stolen so borrowed my dad's and downloaded iTunes in order to update. Downloaded the latest update - no probs but the backup started at 7am this morning, it's now 11pm and it's only just over halfway done!!!!!
WTF?? Please help as the laptop needs to go back tomoz..

You get the patience of the year award. No way I'd allow it to attempt a back up for 16+ hours without intervening regardless of the consequence. lol

Did you ever get it sorted out?
