Hi,
I was wondering if you could help me!!!
I had an iphon 3g for literally a year, and it got stolen off of me in broad daylight on the 2nd of July. However through insurance (thank god), I recieved a new phone and sim the following day... now the problems start...
I synced the phone to itunes 8.2 and it said the iphone could not restore back up, as the software is too old (my old phone was 3.0 and the new one obviously 2.2.1).
It then said I needed to set the phone up as a new iphone, which I did. However, after doing this and choosing to restore back up, it only gives me the option of restoring iphone to "Jahangeer's iphone" and one restoring date, 10th april 09! How can that be when I only last synched and backed up my old iphone 3g a week before it was stolen?!

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to solve the problem. Any ideas/help would extremely be appreciated!!!

Restore to 3.0 and then restore from backup :)

Hi,
I finally found it by going to edit and then preferences. However, now I have another problem (does it ever end???).

I began the restore to the date of last week and it began doing this straight away. The green progress bar began, but stopped when there was about 2 squares left, so I pulled the usb out from the phhone, after waiting about 30 mins.

Lo and behold, everything was on there again, however when I got home I tried to back it up and it does this very slowly, and then gets right near the end and doesn't go any further. Which is causing me to get really frustrated. Any ideas on what to do, cos I'm going insane here. It's been stuck at the same place for almost 30 mins, again!!!

So you've got your stuff back, yes? OK, jailbreak your phone, install OpenSSH and manually backup your messages, photos etc. If you need help on this, ask.
Delete all the old backups in iTunes, restore your iPhone and then jailbreak again and restore your stuff manually then backup!
