Ok, ive jailbroke my iphone 3g with 3.0 software. I downloaded multiple themes off of icy and the internet and I can not get the background of the springboard to change. I got the sponge bob one for my kid and all the icons, the other wallpaper and the dock all change but the background stays black. anyone have any idea why this wont change? ths in advance for any help

You'll need to use SSH to get into the root directories of the phone. The background image may be missing or incorrectly named. It needs to go in the main folder for the theme and be named Wallpaper.png. Go to Library -> Themes -> Sponge Bob
Use iPhoneBrowser for PC or Diskaid for Mac.

all that is ok, I checked the backgrounds, name is correct. Ive tried about 10 different themes and none work on the spingboard. everything else changes fine. is there any switches/settings maybe? i know its going to be something simple.

Root/library/theme/your theme folder. Make sure its format is right. example: familyguy.png

Also, make sure you have deleted / renamed the old background. The iphone will use the one that was there 1st.

i re set my phone from scratch and got it to accept wallpaper but now it wont allow the dock to change. IM using winterboard. I tried the transparent theme and a few custom themes that have different docks but same as the wallpaper before it wont change.

The same issue as above, you need to make sure your dock png is named correctly and in the correct folder. Also, some docks have to be switched on in winterboard.

Any response yet?
I have exact the same problem. Different themes, but background and lockscreen stay black.
have tried to change language to english (dutch iPhone), looked in winterboard (user background, user lockscreen on and off), nothing worked.
I could SSH into my iPhone, but it used to work before....so why not now.

With reset you mean restore? Cos i hate losing all my music AGAIN. Takes a lot of time to put it all back again...

Restoring and rebreaking did fix the issue. Lame...but no other way.
At least themes look complete now. :ok:ok
