I can't seem to figure out why, buy my iPhone won't show up in my itunes. it won't even show on the screen that it's connected to anything beyond power. it's a 3G with the 3.0 update. another problem I've been having is when it would connect (before it decided not to at all), it would eject from itunes before it was done with the sync. anyone have any clues?

also, all of this started happening when I updated to 3.0, is there a way to downgrade without having to restore everything?

Have you authorized iTunes??

yeah, it's been authorized since I got it. I decided to reboot and try again and that seems to problem one fixed for now, but it's still dropping off my devices list in itunes. the part of that that has me confused is, when itunes drops it, the iphone still says it's syncing...

I'm logged in and everything. I only use the one computer just to keep things simple. Someone else told me that I should reinstall iTunes and see if that works which is what I'm gonna do when I get home. I'll let you all know if that solves the problem.

Sounds like it could be the apple device drivers. Try uninstalling them (if you dont know how to, just uninstal itunes and reinstal). Also, do you have the latest version of Itunes?

Yeah, I have the latest iTunes, but I'll give the drivers a shot. To reinstall them I just have to plug something in, right?

In theory yes. However, if its something you already have the drivers for then this will not work.

I would suggest re-installing them completely.

that seemed to do the trick, but if you reinstall your drivers, you'll have to reinstall itunes with it.

So if anyone is having the same problem, just uninstall itunes and the mobile device drivers and reinstall it all again and everything should work fine. :laugh2:

I've yet to JB my iPhone 3G, but from what I've been reading and what not on syncing an unlocked iphone, you need an app on your computer designed for such a task. I'm not sure what to use, but if you look in the iphone modification section, you can probably find a bunch of answers to your question.
