Can this be done?

I am thinking of giving my iphone 3G to my son since I now have the 3GS. We have tried putting in his SIM card and the phone does work with it. My question is, is there a way to make sure that he can not access the internet unless using wireless? I know from past experiences that he would rack up the data charges.

Not really, as the Iphone needs a data plan. You can put restrictions on the Iphone, but unless you have an unlocked 3g, with a sim in it with no data plan, then he will always be able to access data as far as i know.

An alternative would be for you to sell the 3g and buy him an Ipod Touch.
