hey,

i recently tried to jailbreak my 3.0 iphone with RedSnow with my vista laptop, halfway through the program was uploading Ramdisk, a window popped up saying Redsnow had stopped working and it closed down. I freaked out, and un hooked the iphone, and forced a reboot, it still works.
Im not sure what to do now, im scared to retry it. I've always worked well with QuickPwn so im hoping they come out with something soon.
What would you guys/girls do in this situiation?

You should be fine, just restore back to stock OS 3.0 & re-jailbreak with Redsn0w.

I've used Redsn0w with Vista & Windows 7. Make sure screensavers are turned off & stuff like that.

He's right. That's exactly what you should do.

Yep - do what's suggested above. If the ramdisk wasn't completely uploaded, you should be able to start the process again even without a restore, but I would recommend one just to be safe.

I like to always Jailbreak with a freshly restored phone. Empty, with nothing installed.

Try right-clicking on "redsn0w.exe" and access "properties" from the dropdown.

Then click the "Compatibility" tab.

Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP SP3"

See if this helps, I had to do this for Windows 7.

I understand, but the biggest thing I'm worried about is wat if it happens again but it doesn't work properly as in it fully bricks?

I've locked up many iPhones & have always been able to get to DFU mode & start the restore again.

It's obviously a risk you're going to have to take if you want to experience being jailbroken.

IMO, I don't think you have anything to worry about. DFU restore is almost a sure thing should you get into trouble.

True bricking is very rare. Most people misuse the work and say it's bricked when it's really just stuck at the Apple logo and putting it in DFU mode and a restore would fix the problem.

Well, i tried again, restarted the laptop. ran it as admin, turned off uac, ran compatibility mode, and i did something that i read in another topic about moving the window (redsnow's window) up and down quickly. And it WORKED :) haha i'm pretty glad that it worked finally, im happing using a jailbroken phone again finally. I've always loved having it. Alright, thanks guys =)
