Upgraded to 3.0 and e-mail app closes mid-download

I have been accessing IMAP/POP e-mail vial my iphone for years (1st generation and now 3G). When I upgraded to 3.0, my gmail works fine, but my other account (using IMAP proxy) no longer works. When I open the e-mail app, it shows the checking for mail, and then will go to the downloading 1 of 50. about 3 seconds later, the e-mail app closes and returns my iPhone to the home screen.

I have reset my phone twice - any thoughts? Could it be on the other end and my e-mail server no longer works with iPhone?

Check setting>accounts and make sure some ghost account wasn't created.
You can try deleting the crashing email account and setting it up again.
