View Full Version : Why no 'speaker' type recorder

I've search the apps for a simple recorder that would
just be a 'line' style recorder based on what the iPhone
is producing through the speakers.

And not to violate anybody's copyright, I just want to
record stuff I'm listening to off of WunderRadio, and
not going to profit it from its use or re-use.

I'm sure I could attach the earphone out jack to
a recording device, but, why isn't there a 'recording'
program that is internal to the iPhone.

It seems to be purposely missing and it seems like
such a simple, useful thing to have.

Good luck on that one. I know older phones used to have the ability to record your conversations but not on the iPhone. That's one of the first things I tried with the new Voice Recorder App. No dice!

This is something against the record companies. You can record from the radio and tell about it. Because, it would be like stealing a song.

Well you can't use two apps at the same time so your plan fails.

You can try this: use an AUX cable to connect the phone to your computer (plug in the mic port which is usually pink) and then record with your favorite software. Ta-da.

Yeah, but what if I'm at the beach.

Since we plan to have human's explore Mars, I'd think
we could multi-task a iPhone. I can turn the timer on
to shut down the ipod in 28 minutes, play the ipod, and
run another app. Its just silly copyright laws that are
antiquated.

Sorry, that's kind of a weak argument. A Cadillac has more processing power than what was used on the manned missions to the moon. It's irrelevant. Of coarse, we have the technology to do it. That doesn't mean Apple is going to risk getting sued by the RIAA to give it to us. There are plenty of phones out there that multi task, such as the Storm and the Palm Pre. The iPhone is completely capable of doing it, you can JB and have backgrounder. Apple doesn't include it because it decreases battery life and then they can't say, "The new iPhone has such and such a battery life" and have it be anything spectacular. People complain about the Pre's battery life, everything in life is a compromise.
