Glass replacement

I am thinking of getting a new 2g or 3g iphone , I have the 2g now used, and i would like a new one.

one reason i wanted to go to the 3g is that i hear that if you break the front glass it is much easier to replace just the glass on it. the 2g is fused with the digitizer i guess.

is this true?

Reportedly the Glass/Digitizer/LCD are all one fused (glued) unit on the 2G.
The 3G LCD is separated from the Glass/Digitizer.
