Someone help me understand

My upgrade eligiblity date is 7/18/2009. I went to AT&T today and was told they can't waive the upgrade price of 499. Because they can't "override" the system. I thought if u were eligible to upgrade in the next couple of months you could get the phone for the subsidized price.

if you bought the 3g in July , August , or September . Your bill is over $99 a month ( for the iPhone line alone) and your account is in good standing you can buy the 3gs for the 199-299 price.

I would suspect they stopped bending the rules after the initial release. They were trying to appease the crowd, but you may have missed the boat.

But for what it's worth, I paid $499 and it's well worth it.
