I use Tweetie and Twitterrific. Use both because I like both tons, though lately I use Twitterrific more often.

I have Twitterific and Twitterfon on my iPhone but rarely if ever use them. I don't really get much into the whole twitter phenomenon.

I've used several, and Tweetie is my favorite. Very simple, yet it has lots of features such as viewing trends, viewing user profiles, tweets mentioning other people, adding multiple accounts, etc. It's the best I've come across.

Twittelator Pro.

If TP ever does auto-refreshing, I'd totally delete Tweetdeck.

I like this one also. If lacks a few features, but works best for me of the ones I have tried.
Seems as though there isn't one that has all the features I would like to have. The search continues.:tounge:

I don't use it (auto refresh), but doesn't this work...

^^ You beat me to it.

I love Twittelator Pro. It has the most features & takes advantage of the video capability of the new 3G[S] by allowing the user to tweet videos. When somebody tweets a photo, it displays as a thumbnail instead of a link as well. It has the best UI IMO.

Thanks a lot. Now I guess I'll shell out $5 and give it a shot.:tounge:
Does it shorten URL's? I have had a hard time finding an app that will do that.

Yes it does. When composing your tweet, you can use the "---><---" symbol located at the bottom left hand corner of message window to shorten URL's.

just a tip... shorten the URL first before composing the rest of your tweet or the shortening option will shorten your whole tweet & make it look like broken english or grammar used by kids on the internet.

I use several but recently have been using Tweetie more because of a few bugs I've noticed in Twittelator. Tweetie is fast, free, and has a simple UI. Twittelator Pro is loaded with features but I think it's getting too big and complicated.

TweetDeck is a good contender but for me, the font is too small. I like the UI though.

You've pretty much nailed my opinion. Tweetie is simple and fast. TP seems to have a little too much going on, and UI isn't as intuitive as Tweetie (IMO).

I use OTHER. Specifically, IM+ from Shape Services. It isn't the best all around Twitter client but it does have push and it also talks all of my other IM flavors like MSN, Yahoo, GTalk, Skype, ICQ, AOL, Facebook and more. If they ever add IRC with push it will be a killer app.

I stand corrected. I've got 3 or 4 different apps and got confused. Twitterfon (not Pro) and TweetDeck were the free ones. For $2.99 though, Tweetie is well worth it.

Tweetie has been broken for some time now. Searches only show 1 hit at a time, you can't view photos in profiles, and a few other glitches.

Birdfeed (http://www.everythingicafe.com/news/app-store/birdfeed-twitter-app-released-for-the-iphone-200906291401/) was just released and looks promising. I've been using a mix of Twittelator Pro, Twitterfon and Twitterific.

I may spring for Birdfeed.

Just downloaded Birdfeed and yes, it looks promising. One thing I'm impressed with so far is the browser speed. Other Twitter apps seem to have a slow internal browser but BF has a snappy one. Almost like using Safari. The developer seems pretty responsive if you follow @birdfeedapp and send him a message.

Nice feature is an up/down arrow when you're looking at an individual tweet in a user's timeline. You can quickly display the next or previous tweet w/o leaving the single tweet display window. This allows you to tap a link in a tweet using a single tap instead of pulling the tweet into a separate window then tapping the link.

It still has a way to go to be a contender but it does show promise.

I've seen the one result at a time thing with searches, but haven't seen any problems with profile photos.

Birdfeed pisses me off. Every time you open the program, you have to add your account. Hopefully they update this soon. Otherwise, it's not that bad.

Look at their feed on Twitter, others have reported that and the devs are working on it. It has to do with a mixed-case Twitter name.

I'll see how auto-update is on TP. If it's great, I'll definitely delete Tweetdeck. It's too unstable for my tastes.

Can someone explain what those number by API mean?

Can someone explain what those number by API mean?

Twitter apps can make calls into the Twitter website using special "back end" function calls (API = Application Program Interface) and Twitter limits the number of API calls an app can make in a given time period. Once that number has been reached, Twitter ignores any more calls from the app. This helps keep Twitter's website from being overwhelmed. The numbers you see are how many calls the app will make per time period (that varies by app). The more often it talks to Twitter, the more updates you see but you're limited in how many times the app can get updates or talk to Twitter.

Auto update works like a charm in Twittelator Pro. Not as fancy as Tweetdeck but it's a lot more stable.

Great explanation. I think TweetDeck lets me choose...so why wouldn't I choose as often as I can?

Great explanation. I think TweetDeck lets me choose...so why wouldn't I choose as often as I can?

Because it will stop updating once you've used up your quota for the given time period. When that's used up, Twitter will stop responding to refresh requests from Tweetdeck until x amount of time has passed. Tweetdeck lets you see how many API calls you have remaining in the upper right corner of the window and when they will reset.

How large are your video files? I heard smaller videos work better.

Figured it out. I had to use MobyPicture as my photo service of choice, and the videos were uploaded right away. The videos are no longer than 30 secs, so it wasn't an issue with the file size. Thanks :laugh2:

I have to change my vote. just started using Simplytweet and it's awesome. It has a nice easy to use interface like Tweetie but it has quite a few extra features. You can create groups with the "Saved Views" feature and you can display and entire conversation on one page instead of following it back one tweet at a time. The next update will also have push as soon as it gets through the Apple review process.

qTweeter (on Cydia) for posting a new tweet. If you haven't seen this baby in action, it's the coolest application I've come across yet. It lets you update your Twitter and/or Facebook status while inside ANY application without closing it. So sweet.

For viewing all tweets and such, I use Twitterrific but am definitely open to try others.
