You wanted it, you got it! Turn-by-turn GPS app for a one-time purchase cost.

MobileMaps Australia & New Zealand - Turn-by-Turn Voice Guided GPS Navigation - $64.99 (http://appshopper.com/navigation/mobilemaps-australia-new-zealand-turn-by-turn-voice-guided-gps-navigation)
MobileMaps Asia - Southeast - Turn-by-Turn Voice Guided GPS Navigation - $79.99 (http://appshopper.com/navigation/mobilemaps-asia-south-east-turn-by-turn-voice-guided-gps-navigation)
Mobile Maps Europe - Turn-by-Turn Voice Guided GPS Navigation - $99.99 (http://appshopper.com/navigation/mobile-maps-europe-turn-by-turn-voice-guided-gps-navigation)

North America is coming soon.

I can't vouch for the quality of these apps, but this is just an FYI to let you know that a voice turn-by-turn app without a monthly fee actually exists.

Does it download the maps locally?

It probably uses the Google maps program. Motion X GPS uses google's map views (road, satellite, terrain, etc) for part of their app.

It's description says you have the maps loaded on the phone just like standalone gps receivers. The Europe edition is almost 2 gigs big.

I just looked at the screen shots. Definitely not from Google.
Here's a kicker though, I didn't pay attention to the price the first time around.
$99 for Europe. It's probably going to be like 2 times that for US.

Well, it's grouped by continent so North America will probably be U.S., Canada and Mexico. Yeah, it's going to be expensive though.

Mobile Maps for North America is out. Here's the iTunes link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=319354212&mt=8

It's $79.99. Not bad considering it covers the U.S., Canada and Mexico. I hope that means Hawaii is included although it is NOT part of North America.

However, I don't see any feature that it works with the iPod in your iPhone. But you can receive a call and when you're done it will continue back on your route.

You'd think it would be. But, I'm not sure.

Apparently the ipod does not work with this app, so you'll have to navigate in silence or with the radio.

Not opening in the UK iTunes, it's not even there :/

iPod doesn't really have a GPS unit in it... so it'd be pretty useless as cell tower locativity is rather innacurate.

I was responding to the poster who wondered if he could listen to the music on his ipod with Mobile Maps running. What did you think I was saying?

I think he means the iPod in the iPhone doesn't work when running Mobile Maps.

Can I test them without paying any cash? Just to check the material in it. Cause they looks like such a great app and wonder with that price how will they serve?

Unfortunately, no. Unless the developer puts out a limited free version as a separate app, there's no way to download it without paying for it first. Hence why app reviews can be helpful to help you determine if you want to spend so much money to get one. ;)
