hey so my remote app used to wake my mac up from sleep. not any more since i got the 3gs, anyone know what setting to change and where? thanks

I dont think the official Apple "remote" app could do this, as when the mac goes to sleep, it turns off the wifi signal to the iPhone I think.

The only way I can imagine the official Apple "Remote" doing this, is if you go into settings and toggle "stay connected" on.
