Hi guys,

Below is a something I wrote up describing a feature I have ALWAYS wanted on iPods. I've always had it on other music players and think it would be a great addition, should Apple be convinced of its convenience. Can you please read what I am about to submit to www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html, and let me know what you think, i.e. whether you like the idea, how I could improve it, word it better, etc. Thanks!

Scenario: You have your songs on shuffle, and suddenly you think of a certain song you want to hear next, without interrupting the current song.

Using iPod feature in iPhone/iPod Touch: You have to find the song in your song list and wait until the current song finishes to tap it. Otherwise you will interrupt current playback.

Better option (already utilized in most other portable music players): Each song has a "queue" option associated with it. Pushing the "queue" option for that song will put it in line to play next. You can continue to add songs to the integrated queued playlist within shuffle as much as you want. Once the queue has finished, the player returns to shuffle mode.

The On-The-Go playlist offers some of this functionality, but the problems with it are:
1. If you add songs to the On-The-Go playlist, you still have to interrupt playback to get it started.
2. Once your On-The-Go playlist finishes, it will simply repeat itself. Most users would like shuffle to begin once all of the specific songs they want to hear have finished.

How to integrate this feature into current iPhone/iPod Touch software:
1. Add a "Queue" button to the top menu bar in the iPod app. Tapping it will add the "+" graphic next to each song (like we already see when adding songs to an On-The-Go playlist).
2. While in shuffle, if a user taps "Queue" and then the "+" next to a song they want to play, iPod will wait for the current song to finish and then interrupt shuffle mode to play the song or songs chosen by the user.
3. A new Playlist appears under playlists called, say, "User Queued" which lists all of the songs the user has chosen via the "Queue" feature. As songs finish playing, they disappear from this list.
4. Once the "User Queued" playlist has finished, Shuffle mode is automatically resumed.

Also, if you like this idea, feel free to add to the pressure and tell Apple about it at www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html. Obviously the more that we request it, the better. Thanks again.

I like that idea, and I think you worded it pretty well. If you want to make it really short and simple just say something like "Add an option for a song que that doesn't interupt the current song"

Awesome! I'd use it.

Also while you're doing that, please tell them to also implement a Manually Adjustable Equalizer with at least 10 bands. I've submitted this feature for the iPod App many times. I just wish many others did so Apple would realize this is something many people want. I mean, we already have different selections for the EQ like Electronic, Jazz, Rock, etc. Why not have a manual option added as well? As a matter of fact, that's something that should be in the standalone iPods as well.
