I usually hate when people start saying a phone could be an iPhone killer so I'm not saying that, but I am saying this phone could give the iPhone a run for it's money, http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/24/htc-hero-details-begin-leaking-from-htcs-own-website/#continued. It's got a lot of great features, it's backed by HTC which makes some great phones and look, a full web browser with flash. Hmm.... things could get interesting since it's running Android which means it has an app store.

the Hero and Pre are both worthy competition for the iPhone. Neither of course will be an "iPhone Killer". I don't think there will ever be such thing other than Apple killing the iPhone themselves. webOS is an awesome platform and I like android too though not quite as much. Once the webOS SDK is released the Pre will have more selection in the App store. Two worthy competitors for the iPhone and we all should benefit from that.

one thing I don't like. why the hell does HTC insist on putting that hideous "chin" on all their android phones?

No doubt Aggie. I gotta say though, the graphics on the Hero are spectacular. I would need to see one in person though, to really make a determination of how good it really is. Depends on Network, Overall speed, and user interface.
The best thing about the iPhone is the interface. Just about anyone can pick it up and be using it like a pro in a matter of minutes (except maybe the typing part). As cool as the other phones are, I still have yet to see one that is that easy to use.

Engadget just posted a review on flash on the Hero, http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/24/adobe-demos-flash-on-the-htc-hero/. Can't watch it at work unfortunately but I'm curious to watch it when I get home.

I just watched it and it's pretty cool. I do have to say that their WiFi connection at Adobe is pretty fast. I think it's a bit of a little misrepresentation of how flash will load for the average WiFi or 3G connection. I think it will be between 15-20 seconds minimum for the pages he viewed to load in real world environment.

Nice vid. I didn't see an Iphone killer but it looks like a nice device.

Competition is good. Apple wont rest on its laurels if they have any sense they are being passed up. Its a good thing these companies are churning out amazing products. Keep em coming!

If only T-mobiles coverage didn't suck so much...

I agree here... I like all the other phones BB, Pre, etc. But the iPhone's interface just fits.

So, who will carry the Hero? If it's T-Mobile then what about the myTouch 3G, the actual G1 successor? Are there any difference between the Hero and myTouch 3G other than the obvious physical difference?

I just wish HTC would actually put together proper hardware acceleration for the chips they use. I would be very surprised if the device is smooth as not a single HTC i have used comes close to the overall feel of an iPhone. I did watch the videos but even WM looks good on demo videos :P

I tried the G1 - It was a dog on most things
I tried the Touch Pro - Dogx3

I have had exclusively HTC phone up until I bought the iPhone and the 3GS is by far the smoothest operating device I have ever had.

I love the concept behind the android phones ( I love to customize my devices!) and with the custom ROM's and all I really thought it would be nifty but they are dogs performance wise.

Oh well, I'll stick with my super awesome 3GS :)

Check this out:

HTC Hero's Teflon Coating Makes the iPhone Feel Like Junk (http://gizmodo.com/5302637/htc-heros-teflon-coating-makes-the-iphone-feel-like-junk)

So, this guy actually admits the HTC Hero looks like crap but he loves the feel.
And he's all like, "The iPhone is smudgy." Idiot - if you don't want smudges you get the white.

While I hope the next iPhone gets a total outer body makeover, I think this guy just is looking for something to criticize the iPhone on. Either that or he has a palm sweating problem.
