I have data in contact fields on my iphone such as "iphone" phone number and some custom ones that I have made. When I sync, they don't show up in Outlook (2002). Is there any alternative? Is there a way to get a csv file..I could then just put it in and excel spreadsheet. Also, this means I don't have a backup.
this can't be!! any solutions out there?

I don't know about a proper solution for this. Do your custom number labels show up in the notes section of your contact file? If so, the number will be backed up in that location but syncing with these labels may not be possible. My only suggestion would be to manually edit each contact to one of the standard labels (i.e. Home Work Mobile Fax etc.) and try to sync again. Sorry if this doesn't help. Hopefully there are others in these forums with a solution, but as for me, that's all I got.

thanks. I just can't imagine why there would be fields on the iphone that you can't transfer and backup!
many of my contacts are husband and wife so I have a custom field for each of their mobile phones. they are nowhere on outlook.

It does not work for me either. I guess we are lucky that the custom iphone fields dont get nuked during sync

how frustrating. with my palm, I could use my desktop address book. now many contact numbers won't be there in outlook....and the numbers aren't even backed up ...
there must be some contact manager out there that can have customized fields.. I could even use excel if I could get a file out of the iphone!
