Actually.. if you are jailbroken... you can add this feature as well.. i don't see too many people mentioning it, but.. in Cydia as long as you have iSpazio source installed, search for Findinpage... and what this does is creates a bookmark in Sarfari that when you are on a page that you want to search for text, press the bookmarks icon and click Find In Page.. this loads a javascript that will bring up the box to allow you to type in the word you are looking for and highlights them... the only thing that i find is you have to let the entire page load first...
Heres a Pic.. (note this is tested on OS 3.0)

I wanna be greedy and have my iPhone used as a universal remote control for my tv, blu-ray, cable box, and surround sound system.

Search within Safari would be really great.

I suppose a standard built-in version would be better, but this works:

I want a lot more from Voice Control on the 3GS. I want it to work with Spotlight search, and open apps, and interact with calendar and contacts.

i also think it's way too slow and obtrusive to hold the home button down for 5 seconds, and THEN talk. by the time i do all that, i could have launched whatever i was voice-commanding on my own.
i was thinking maybe voice command could launch 1/2 second or so after holding the home button, and while you are still holding it, do the command. That way things are getting launched quicker, but also prevents accidental voice commands.

Voice app launch would be great. I want a Today type screen and calendar integration into Itunes...like the Palm OS. I don't really want to use online calendars and I don't have Outlook.

I agree. This is one app that needs a lot more love in a future update. It's one of those very rare things that were done far better in Windows Mobile - Voice Command (admittedly not free and not part of the OS) kicked Voice Control's arse ...

honestly, i think it's really good for the first instance of it. it can only get better.

Voice Control is indeed a poor-man's Voice Command at this point. Gotta be one of the few times in history that Apple has played second-fiddle to MS with regards to a user interface. It is still a welcome feature... I just hope Apple doesn't go with a "works well enough" attitude and abandon any upgrades.

Oh, same here. Or if they do, please allow a 3rd party dev to step in and do it right ...

If the camera can do auto-focus, stands to reason it could do manual focus, too, right? Pretty please?

:s see, I'm more than content with the voice control just because it's so simple to use, and recognizes my voice so well. Any voice command features I;ve had on other phones were complicated to activate and use etc. where is this just flows!
For example, today i was playing with the voice control, and i paused the music (with my voice of course ;))...and then said 'Next track'...the phone replied "You are not currently playing music...would you like music to begin playing now?' 'Yes' I replied......most intelligent conversation i've had all day!!

That is likely more of a 4.0 wish list item - can't see it making it into a 3.x update.

Voice command in Windows was more robust....it even did things I didn't ask it to do lol. Worked great in a quiet environment but forget it otherwise.
