Post Your Average Battery Life Time, Brightness Setting Etc., Wen U Usually Charge It Here. From Your Statistics, Usage And Standy Time.

Right Now, Im At

Usage 4 Hours, 8 Minutes

Standy 16 Hours, 58 Minutes

And Only Abuot 50% Battery Left With My Brightness Setting At 25% And Autobright Off.

Whats Yours, Well See What Appears To Be The Average Battery Life Here. (mine Also Took Roughly 4 Hours For A Full Charge Last Night, 4-8)

I can't post usage stats because I never get them.

But I can go two days without charging. WiFi is off other than when I need it. Bluetooth is off other than when I'm in the car. Brightness is set about 40% and I leave auto brightness on.

U CAN RESET UR USAGE SETTING AFTER U CHARGE IT SO THAT U CAN MORE ACCURATELY KNOW HOW MUCH USAGE U GET OUT OF UR PHONE. IT ALSO AUTOMATICALLY RESETS AFTER A FULL CHARGE. IT GATHERS USAGE AND STANDY TIMES SINCE THE LAST FULL CHARGE.

Usage 2 hours 51 minutes standby 7hours 40 minutes im about still about 70% full. Used about hour and a half as ipod and an hour on the internet and watching youtube vids. and a couple calls.
I am able to go a full day and still have about 25% charge by night time.

i dont ever check usage but an average day im probably using it about 2-2.5 hours maybe more all between phone, sms, ipod, and internet. and at the end of the day im have about 60% left.

I can go usually 2 days inbetween charges. I'm a little concerned about the battery for the first time since I got the phone. I'm a 1 day 16 hours standby and over 4 hours usage but I really only used the ipod for like an hour yesterday and the internet and google maps for like 10 minutes, and some texting and probably a call or two over the last 2 days. I'm at about 50%. It feels like i've barely used it. I have a feeling that if I take a 4 or 5 hour plane ride and get throug 2 movies, it'll be pretty drained after that.

I got down to about 25% battery last night, with like 9 1/2 hours of usage. That's not bad at all. ;)

I just have to keep reminding myself that this is a smart phone with a 3.5" screen.....the battery will NOT stay at full charge, all day, like my SLIVR did. lol

That is about what I get 9 to 10 of mostly Internet and Movie watching.

BTW the iPhone is a PDA. Smartphones don't have touchscreen, PDA's do.

What the heck are you talking about?

The Treo line of phones have a touchscreen and they're specifically labeled as a smartphone.

And isn't a smartphone just a phone with PDA capabilities?

umm, sorry? Smartphone is just a generic term that describes any phone with functions that mimic what a pda does (making it ALSO a pda). The touchscreen function is totally unrelated to whether or not a device can be called a smartphone!

If you're talking about Windows Mobile "Smartphone" edition, that is a totally different idea in that MS simply trademarked the name for a specific mobile software package that lacks touchscreen support. The term "smartphone" has been around far longer than the trademarked software, and WM Smartphone ONLY applies to a specific software solution - not an evolutionary branch of the telecom industry that includes Treos, HTC devices, BlackBerries, iPhones, etc.

There is a fine line between the 2, but Smartphones always have a keyboard on the front the device where a PDA doesn't.

that was since the last full charge. :embarrassed:

those with short battery life might want to go to an apple store and get it checked out, i have 2 and a half hour usage and 8 hour standby right now and ive had wifi on the whole time and i still have a full battery.

And I only have about 15% left. It's just about dead. My battery also doesn't glow like it should. Do you think I have a bad battery?

it's good if you were using wifi browsing the internet for the whole 4 hours 24 minutes... might as well trade it in.. you're supposed to be able to get 8 hours of talk time

depends on how you used it.. wifi internet the whole 3 hours? break down how you used the 3hours... and was your wifi turned on during the 17 hours standby? that will definitely kill the battery

Apple says that the battery is good for 6 hours of internet use!

My bat life has been getting better by the day... by the time I go to bed and charge it, the battery indicator barely shows any usage at all... just using the phone and wifi functions...

seems normal.. I got 5 hours 30 minutes usage and 1 day 11 hours standby when I got the 20% remaining pop up... it all depends on your brightness settings, wifi on or off, how loud your volume is on calls, music etc..

Just got home from the Harry Potter, midnight showing.

Lots of waiting... and waiting...

my usage since 10 this morning:

Usage: 5 hours, 5 minutes.

Standby: 15 hours, 52 minutes.

and I still have about 30% of my battery left. Not even red yet. =]

cool.. I think the average is right around there.. between 5-6 hours usage before the 20% remaining pops up... the people that have 9 hours usage and still have 50% or more remaining amaze me

I did that before too.. my battery was at 20% and I went on wifi to see how long it would last til it got to 5%... it went fast, it seemed like it only took 30 minutes to go down to 5%

yup, i left wifi and bt on all the time, brightness about 50%. I reduced brightness down to about 25% now, truned off bt, now im gonna charge it over night see if im able to get more usage tomorrow. I figured if i reduce the standby time i probably will get more usage time, will see tomorrow.

I got about 8 hours use and 9 hours stand by the other day havent done it since though. But it really drops quick once you hit 30%.

the nice genious bar at my local apple store kindly changed my iphone out for a new one(i swapped up to an 8gig too) because of the battery issue. i will post back my new results when i get down to 20% to compare(see page 1 or 2 when i posted my 20% usage and standby times). i did notice today that when i took my iphone off the carger it was full and had a glow , where as my old phone looked like it was at 95% all the time even after an overnight stay in the dock....its a software issue im almost 100% positive on because i could be at 20%, turn my phone off and on again , then it would be at 50%. just like how ipods work the software that controls battery life isnt too accurate. apple suggests customers who are having problems , to let it die completely so it shuts off , then charge it to 100%, that teaches the phone its full and empty capacitys. they also recomended restoring the software .

I've had it on without charging (not in standby) for around 16 hours with about 75% battery left. I've done minor app use (calendar, photos, photo taking, quick use ipod music/video, maps, weather, phone use, mail, internet... well, just about everything... but I've not use any app extensively.)

why are you just using your iphone to listen to music? we all know that it's impossible to get those usage and standby numbers unless you're just listening to music... because video lasts maximum 7 hours, talk 8 hours max, internet 6 hours max... but listening to music lasts 24 hours...
