iPhone 3.0 update problems

Hey there, I have an iPhone 3G, and have had the beta for some time, most recently i was using 3.0 beta 5. I tried updating to the official 3.0 release by Apple but was not able to, iTunes was saying that I am already using the most up-to-date software. Yesterday, my phone went to the pink iPhone activation screen. I hooked it up to iTunes and I was notified that my iPhone software I was using has expired and it requested me to update, when i try to update, the same message of my software being up-to-date appears. I have also tried to use the restore function, however that produces an error on both my computers at home.

Any help is much appreciated.

goto the apple website and download the 3.0 firmware. once the download completes. open itunes and shift + click on check for update and select the downloaded firmware.

I have already tried going to Apple's website but was unable to find a link to download 3.0

I have an issue - I've seen different resposes on how to correct the problem bt nothing works. I wanted to update my IPhone to 3.0 - in doing that I had to have the current version of Itunesl So, now that I have the latest version of ITunes I run the 3.0 update via ITunes It does it thing and NOW I can't get ITunes to see my IPhone. The message that displays is the following - An IPhone has been detected but it could not be identified. Then it says to try disconnecting and reconnecting - which I have already done SEVERALtimes.......any sound advice?

Put your phone in recovery mode and try again. Unplug it from iTunes, power it off, hold the home button, and plug it back in. Make sure iTunes is open when you do it.

Ill stick with this thread, as this seems to be the place to post any probs with upgrading. I was also on beta 5, phone went purple screen, cant just search for updates through iTunes.

Every place I have found to download the final version of 3.0 has been a *.zip file with no ipsw file within it. Now how do you go about putting the new 3.0 firmware on the phone with no ipsw? I am sure I am missing something, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
