I like that! How tacky/sticky is it? Is it hard to get into your pocket?
acosmichippo
06-19-2009, 01:26 PM
to be honest, i haven't had a chance to pocket it yet, but it is NOT as sticky as iSkin's other silicone cases. Think of it like a silocone/poly hybrid. It is slightly tacky, and offers good grip, but not enough to make putting in a jeans pocket difficult. I'll let you know when i give it a shot... still syncing now...

a few minor issues:
-The case covers the power button, which makes it a little difficult to push.
-When taking out of a pocket, sometimes the sliver just below the home button catches on fabric, causing some resistance.
-the camera and headphone holes are not centered, but not so bad as to obstruct the camera or headphone jack.

I have heard that you have to "massage" the case a little and you can get the holes to match up.

you can to some degree. Mine at least is not going to be coaxed perfectly into place.

Here is purple. Btw, when I took it off and put it back on the holes line up perfectly.

After a day of use I've come across another small problem. I keep my phone in my pocket, and after one day, there was a lot of dust and lint trapped under the lip of the case... So I'd recommend taking it off periodically for cleaning to keep the bezel
in good shape.

Kelley, have you tried the screen protector?

Kelley, have you tried the screen protector?
No, I am not a big fan of the mirrored look. Plus I really like how this screen feels "naked". I might try it sometime, but haven't yet.

Yeah, same with me. Being a guy, I just don't think I can use it after seeing iSkin describe it as "having a compact in your pocket at all times".

I have an extra one of these in Orange if anyone is interested. Brand new for $20.00 shipped. I went for an Incase slider instead.

I have the same case but in green.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the case gets in the way of some 3rd party charging cables I have when trying to charge the iPhone. I just have to stick with the cables with the slimmer plugs.
Also, I tried to use the mirror screen cover, but could not get all the air bubbles out. Tried again a few more times but I just ended up getting lint underneath so it wasn't perfectly smooth. Can I just rinse the screen protector with water and try again?

You should be able to. Let it airdry.
And if you need to remove dust from the screen, use masking tape.

Still waiting on the arrival of my blue Solo FX; the reason I switched to the white phone.
And Skimball (http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/members/skimball.html), I'll buy your orange one, too, if it's still available.

Payment sent and he shipped it out to me yesterday... :)

Haha! Well, I'm glad you got it, then. I was about to tell him to go ahead and sell to you until I read your last line! :) Good buy; I think if you buy them directly from iSkin they're in the upper 30's once you incude shipping...or is that without shipping? Can't remember. Can't wait to get it! I've already dropped my phone once since I got the 3Gs; I need a case on at ALL times.

Whoa, there are some great prices on Amazon! I don't have much experience buying from that site; I've only tried twice, and both times got ripped off. Was that just a fluke?
On another note, now that I see everyone's pics posted here, I wonder if the pics on Amazon and iSkin's site aren't of the cases on black phones? They look so much darker. Regardless, I like the look on the white phone. I'm in love with the aqua blue color...I think the only one I haven't seen yet is the green?

buy direct from amazon. not a third party seller. IOW, use a "Buy New" link on that page.

Just watch out because the price of the case may be cheap but then they get you on shipping. I paid $33 shipping included on iskin's website with the 15% discount that Hippo mentioned. You can get the discount if you sign up for their newsletter.

So far so good. Looks pretty cool and protects the phone well.
I was going to install the mirror screen protector, but I kinda messed up. So I just went ahead and ordered 3 mirror screen replacements on eBay for less than $2.

Not sure how reputable this place is but they have a FALL10%OFF coupon on the top right corner of their 3GS page and the Solo/SoloFX cases in stock for ~ $25.
Ordered myself the green one, we'll see how long it takes to come in.

Not a fan of cases at all but thinking about picking one of these up, especially the cyan one.
Do these stick tight to the device? Worried about dust getting in there and eventually causing scratches. A friend of mine had a bad experience with the Air Jacket so I'm a little worried.

They sick to it pretty well, but I wouldn't recommend going more then a few days without taking it off and wiping the phone and case down. I haven't had any specific issues, but I just don't think any case is impervious to dust and debris working its way in.
I personally take the case off every day when I get home. I'm like you in that I'd prefer to not have to use a case at all.

I've been running the black one for a week now and love it. It snugs with the iPhone pretty well but also take it off to clean everything.

Not to cross the advertising line, but I have cases in my store made out of a material identical to the iSkin solo and in some fun colors (like Pink, etc). The Hex case on my site is especially popular.
Check 'em out if you like the iSkin and want some different colors or textures. There are pics of each on a black and white iPhone, as well.
I have the Full Body BestSkinsEver and I just got my Vive Solo FX. Theres one part depending where I start to put the case on it still shows the chrome. It also pushed against the back piece now it is messed up and now the adhesive side is smeared. Should I take off the back to make it fit all the way?

EDIT: Just double-checked, it wasn't the iSkin Solo FX that I had purchased, it was this one:
http://eblazingtech.com/images/Iskin/DUET/e3.jpg
First post here, and it's going to be my review on this. XD
I bought one today (iSkin Duet set, so it came with the clear one), quickly brought it home and tried it on.
First things first, it did not match up. Not in the least bit. The top right and bottom left (diagonal) had much more "flap protection" than their counterparts. The silver bevel was partially exposed in the top left corner, and the buttons didn't match up at all. I did manage to get all the buttons lined up, the holes lined up, etc... but when it was lined up, it looked like this:
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/3113/iskin.jpg
So yeah, it seems to have not been cut out correctly at all. The "inserted" fit wasn't nearly correct, it took major "massaging" to get the buttons lined up, and yet the bevel in the bottom right was exposed.
Needless to say I brought it back, even tried on another one and it still did the same. I really wanted that case, it was clear and they're hard to get in stores.
In the end, if you're not picky about your skin (unlike me), this skin is great. But it's more-than-likely not going to line up properly (in my experience), and something that protects a $700 investment definitely should.
