Been an AT&T subscriber for 6 years. Purchased my 3G on launch day last year. I have the Family Plan for my iphone and my wifes normal phone - we pay $120ish total per month (so definitely more than $100 before taxes...I think).

Simple question - knowing the information above, am I entitled to the $199 price?

I have already pre-ordered the 3Gs from the AT&T web site on the June 9th - and agreed to pay the $399. Will this now be changed if I am eligible for the less expensive price?

Thanks!

Why don't you check on their website or just call them? The eligibility algorithm has been updated today I believe. But for what it's worth, it sounds like all the pieces are in place for you to get the lowest price.

I think you do qualify, based on the amount you spend per month, rather than your 3G purchase date - but I'm not positive of that. AT&T says you can get a quick upgrade eligibility answer via:

We invite you to check your upgrade eligibility by visiting www.att.com/iphone (http://www.att.com/iphone), calling *NEW# (*639#) on your AT&T device (we’ll send you a text with upgrade information)

If you do qualify, they will credit back the difference if you pre-ordered, and so will Apple - according to their press release - see it HERE (http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=13745) - on this subject.

I just verified what I pay - it's $171 a month. Going to the web site - I'm not eligible. No one can tell me why.

1) Purchased the 3G on launch day last year.
2) Pay $171 a month.
3) Been a model subscriber to AT&T for 7 years.

Hmm.

Talk to a human being and start complaining, because that makes no sense.

The per-month spend requirement is $99 before taxes per line. If you're not spending that much on any individual line on your account, you're not eligible, no matter how much you pay per month in total before taxes...

Just did. The woman told me that the 'deal' is for folks who were eligible to upgrade July, August, or Sept. I am eligible to upgade on 12/12/09. I am ineligible.

So there must be confusion as to how this works. If you bought an iphone 3G on launch day - you DO NOT get the new pricing - this was confirmed with the live person I spoke to.

Read what MacGirl wrote above, paying special attention to the per line part. This is most likely the catch.

See things are so screwed up with at&t. On my account it says my wifes line is eligible tomorrow, my line is on april 2,10

I went and talk to a friend of mine that works at the corporate at&t store here and he looked up my line said its not problem we can override that your both eligible tomorrow( for the 199 price) then he told me anyone that bought a 3g in july or aug is eligible tomorrow.

Im so damn confused i dont know what to think but i know i'll be there before 7 talking to my friend trying to get a new 16gb white 3gs

This is exactly my problem with AT&T. Some people are eligible that meet the requirements and some are not.

AT&T is gonna have a lot of angry customers if they don't fix this in some way....And I'm one of them.

Just got off the phone with AT&T, all day I've been doing the *693# and have been receiving the "Not eligible for iphone upgrade until 7/7/09" So the rep said she cannot find out why I did not fit the criteria for the early upgrade, I fall into the July, August, September time frame for an upgrade, my line accounts for $128 a month, I've been in good standing with my payments for my entire time with them, yet I still show 7/7/09. She said all updates for accounts were done 6am this morning. She had no answer at all, and said she cannot override the system upgrade date. All she could do was verify the other 4 lines on my account and see if I could upgrade one of them instead, which I couldn't.

So she said, it's only 2 weeks more.................:frown:
