should i even upgrade/restore to 3.0 or just keep my beta 3
any known differences? speed etc?

If you were running the GM build it might not be worth updating, but from Beta 3, yes it should be worthwhile.
Final couple builds were a fair bit quicker and added some other bits I'm not recalling right now ...

I've heard of several people now with really aged beta 3's running. I'm starting to think that beta never expires. Strange, too, because to me, that was the the most "GM-feeling" beta of them all...

Sounds like you just need a direct download link for the 3.0 final firmware. Get that downloaded and do an Option/Update or Shift/Update to point it at the downloaded .ipsw file.
Restore shouldn't be necessary ...

Beta 4 Purpled screened on Shari's phone - remember? 5 am her alarms were going off, and she could disable them. Had to turn the phone off. Then I had to update her to beta 5.

I remember... I'm talking about beta 3. I remember reading at least one other person besides Tom here that had beta 3 going well into beta 5.

Wow i thought that beta 3 was the last beta
oh well it is still working good
only complaint is that the voice memo app loads a little slow
and i dont have an mms option but att doesnt support that anyway
