I thought I'd start a thread of a list of apps that have PUSH enabled. I know of only one for now. Please add to the list as you find more PUSH enabled apps.

1. Textfree
2. Tap Tap Revenge 2.5
3. IM+

Thanks

Are you sure about IM+
I just updated it two nights ago and all it did was give push email, not real push notifications. I don't see an update either.

Yeah, AP Mobile is an easy way to get your Push Notifications setting to appear in Settings.

I think the app "Hey Where Are You" has it as well.
Theres another one called pollen but it seems pointless for push.

AIM & ETRADE Mobile both have it now. For AIM you have to turn off the "immediately" under what to do when it signs you off. You can do it for up to 24 hours, which means all you would have to do is click the app once per day to stay online. I set it on 30 minutes.

I don't see a "Push Notifications" setting in Settings. Could I be missing it? I'm on v1 but with 3.0 software...

Doing this doesnt start push notifications on AIM....this will just send you a text saying you got a message.

That's what the push notifications are for AIM, I thought? I'm confused.

No, the AIM App that developers are previewing (which I think expires tomorrow or Friday) has push. The AIM that is currently in the store doesn't yet have it enabled. The AIM that has push will show the IM on your phone in the same box as text messages do but it's actually from the IM app itself.

The push notification appears in the settings when you install any app that has true push enabled. One of the other ones right available to everyone is the AP news. I imagine we'll see a bunch more online tomorrow.

Push notification is already up and running. That link tells you the few that work now a few that will be coming as soon as it gets approved by apple.

I'm sorry, IM+ is still doing Push Emails.. I misread the question...

but... I just got this from Gizmodo

Push Notifications Are Supported; Push Apps Are Still Rare

While the iPhone can't multitask, Push Notifications get us halfway there. Apps like the new AIM will allow for IMs to pop up without actually being inside the AIM app. Games will allow player to player invites. But as of now, there's virtually nothing in the App Store that takes advantage of Push Notifications. So hang in there. The feature is officially here, but content hasn't arrived yet.

I'm not sure exactly what the question is but if you dont want push notifications for a certain app, just turn them off.

I know that. That's why I found it curious. I got a push for some forgettable news story. The ACTUAL breaking news about the dead pilot on the Continental Airlines flight never came through.

I'm sure there are kinks they're working out.

When will the App Store enable push? So when there is a new update to an app, we don't have to enter the app store to find out if there is an update...we'll just get a number pop up next to the app store button.

Because TapTap has been the leader in everything since the iphone came out. It was one of the first full featured, original (even though it isnt 100% original) iphone game back in 1.1.x. In 2.0 it released the day the appstore came out with 2.0, and now with 3.0 it was the first to get push notifications.
I kinda feel like its THE original iphone app.

It also happens when you connect it to iTunes and sync it, the apps that need to be updated show in the icon on the phone. That might be what's happening.

Nope, it went live tonight.

BeeJives interface and ease of use makes it one of the best chat clients out there. I have been using it on various devices through the life of the chat client. You really won't be disappointed, plus it used to be 15 ( I paid 30 for it on my blackberry).

eBuddy just released an IM app that supports push and it's FREE. It works with MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, Facebook Chat, Google Talk and ICQ.

The downside about this app is that you need to register another username and password to use the app.

Just tried it out. Push is just about unusable on this app because when you log out, it will only keep you logged in for 30 minutes. If you aren't logged on, push doesn't work. It's a nice interface though. Colorful and bubbly. Too bad it's not worth it even for free.

AIM keeps you logged on for 24 hours at a time.

The reviews on eBuddy aren't all that great because people are complaining about the 30 minute time limit.

Push is one of the best new features on the iPhone. I use push a lot :)

I wonder if they will charge for push in the future. I noticed that this month I'm going to use under 500 texts. Before I usually went over the 1,500 texts because of all the IM's from AIM/Yahoo, now with push I might be able to downgrade my plan and save a little money due to push.

iCam is a great way to view your web-cams on your iPhone. Now with an in App $.99 purchase you get motion detection PUSH notifications. The free PC or MAC software will send a PUSH notification to your iPhone when motion is detected. You can turn PUSH notifications on or off from the iPhone App and also adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection from within the App. You can view up to 4 cams at a time. Just set a user name and password in the PC and/or MAC software, enter the same user name and password in the iPhone App and that's it. Your web-cams will appear.
