Perhaps it's time I break out the beta logo again, but I'm giving the old community blog another trial run. I know last time it was met with a mixed reaction, but perhaps the new and improved iPhone Social (http://www.everythingicafe.com/index.php?option=com_community&view=frontpage&Itemid=167)will be the boost the community blog needs. In leiu of full editorial guidelines (which will probably be coming sooner than later), here are few basic guidelines for getting your blog published at EverythingiCafe.
You need to be a member (that's easy enough).
Your blog must be written about the iPhone, iPhone Apps, etc. Anything related to the iPhone. If you want to compare it to another phone, that's fine.
Your blog is not being used to promote your personal blog. We have plenty of the spam in the forums to contend with, so that would be a no-go in the community blog.
It must be well written.
Please no outlandish claims in your blog. The iPhone will help you lose 30 pounds and give you 6 pack abs. Your blogs are still a reflection of the site as a whole, so let's keep it filled with quality, informative and accurate content.
It must be a least a paragraph.
If it's a news story, we do encourage you link to the source if it is a major news outlet and or blog. Engadget, Gizmodo, etc. Due to the nature of a "community blog", we will not allow links to MySuperiPhoneSite.com established yesterday. If you have questions about sourcing a story, send me a PM before you write your story.
Please choose from one of the categories.
Please include tags that will help people find your blog.
Once you publish your blog, there's not turning back. Blogs can be edited, but they cannot be removed.
If your article is timely, well written and newsworthy, it will likely get "promoted" to the homepage.
Authors are encouraged to use their fullname, but it's not required. If you would like your full name listed next to your blog, shoot me a PM.
This is a beta. As such, it's possible that myBlog will be discontinued.
All blog posts are subject to editorial review, before it gets approved/published.
If you become a regular contributor, your blogs will be set to auto-publish.
myBlogs will appear in the "Activity Stream" on the home page and within the Community Blogs section of the homepage.
Don't break anything and have fun!
There is a tutorial on how to access myBlog, but it does need updating. Once you add it as an application in iPhone Social, it will appear in your tabs.
Lots more to come, but figured I'd take the wraps on the Community Blog a little early.
Have fun with it! Let me know if you have questions, concerns or would like more information.
