BlackBerry maker RIM announced Tuesday it would launch the new BlackBerry Tour for Verizon and Sprint customers this summer, aimed at international travelers.
The Tour allows users to transition between different mobile network standards as they travel outside of North America. Verizon and Sprint transmit their wireless service on a standard that essentially only exists in North America, so their customers need phones that work on multiple standards if they travel abroad.

Sprint already offers a "World Phone" but I will certainly be keeping my eye on the BB Tour. Great find thanks for sharing. Mark

It's not a bad-looking phone for a BB. I don't ever leave the country, so I would have no use for any type of 'world phone'.

It's about time RIM publicly acknowledged this phone's existence. Us over in the BlackBerry community have been seeing the leaks on this device for months.

I would even rather have a Pre over that BB. I guess for people who love their BB phones it is a marvel for them. Looks too much like a brick to me.

The 8830 should not even be mentioned in the same breath as the Tour.
BTW, join us over at everythingberry if you decide to get another blackberry.

It's funny, RIM is the worst of all the manufacturers at letting information leak out yet they seem to take longer than any other to announce a device.
