Turn by Turn GPS

I keep reading about turn by turn gps as a new feature in 3.0. I am not sure if there is a setting I am missing? How exactly is it supposed to work? I have a Garmin and turn by turn on that means telling me the next move after the current one is made.
I am running 3.0gm at the moment

It's not a setting, it's that Apple is now letting 3rd-party application developers make true turn-by-turn navigation apps for 3.0. TomTom and Navigon have already announced (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/06/09/tomtom-and-navigon-bringing-turn-by-turn-gps-car-navigation-to-iphone/) that they will be releasing navigation apps for the iPhone. Hopefully more will follow, but I'm happy that we'll have 2 great choices some time this summer.
