This may not be known yet, or maybe I've missed something as part of my iPhone research. If you turn the phone counterclockwise during an sms session, will the keypad adjust horizonatly (as photos do)? This would be a nice feature, seing that it would let the keypad appear bigger and thus being less troublesome for people who have bigger fingers/hands. I did see a banner with a photo of the iPhone laying down on it's side horizontally and it had an image of the keypad adjusted with the tilt on it's screen. What do you guys know or think about this?

I personally have no problem with the way it is now, I was just a little curious about this.

I have been keeping my eye out for this as well. As of yet, I haven't seen any information one way or the other. I would be very surprised though if there wasn't a landscape version of the keyboard.

I haven't found proof that it does yet, but I would bet it does, since it does pics like that already.

I agree - it would be a very nice feature. Have a great day.

Good question. I hope it has this feature as well. It would make it much easier to text or email.

I was thinking the same thing when I watched the keynote. I figure the horizontal qwerty will hopefully appear. It would make things easier to write out and take away the odds of pressing 2-3 keys at a time. I can picture the screen like so: Warning BAD MS paint interpretation.

That's what i was thinking it would look like. Sometimes there is no need to view the whole conversation. I think it would only be sufficient to view what you're typing on top, and at least the last message you received.

exactly. You already know what the person said to you thats why you are replying.

i really hope it does switch to landscape mode cuz it looks like it would be hard to type on the little portrait one

i read somewhere earlier (although i can't find the source again) that they have tested the idea of having a landscape mode for the qwerty keyboard but have yet to decide if it will go into production or not - i'll try to find the sourch and post a link later...

I found a photo (a mockup) and this is exactly the way I picture the feature to be, with maybe a couple of adjustments.

Looks exactly what I had in mind as I drew up my mock

I really can't wait for the first production iPhones to be in the hands of reviewers (should be some time before the release, I would imagine) so that we can stop speculating and get some real answers to these questions. I have endless questions about the interface and user experience, and everyone seems to have as many questions as I do about the fine details.

I guess I'll just have to be patient...

i have been wondering the same thing as well, if they do make it like that than they would fully be taking advantage of the accelerometer inside that detects motion like for video and photo, if they dont than.....than...what were they thinking?!
