all this talk of the new iphone

with picture messaging enable, being able to text with the side screen, and a video camera. will the update be available via download from itunes or will we have to get the new iphone physically? sorry if it's a dumb question i am an iphone rookie.

You'll be able to obtain the new 3.0 firmware update via iTunes on June 17th.

However, video recording will only be available on the new iPhone 3GS.

Perhaps a little. I believe that longer battery life on the 3GS is partially due to more power-efficient hardware inside.
