does the iphone use both speakers?

There's two speakers for sounds on the bottom side of the iphone, but i've noticed when i'm playing music out loud only one is being used. is something wrong with mine or is this normal?

I'm wondering if we can put a sticky at the top of the forum with the headline:

"Only have 1 speaker working!? Click here for the fix!"

Although I only knew 1 speaker was for music thanks to the forums here before I bought my phone. I can see where people would be confused.
