Yea, did it this morning. Dropped it (only 4 or so feet) but enough to crack the glass. I have the shield on it (didn't help that much), but it didn't shatter.

Doing a lot of site searching, calling, etc Apple wants $200 to repair (yea right), but looking around I am getting online prices of $150, $85 and then I see the parts. $35 or so will get you the screen and tools. I'm an IT guy but even watching the youtube videos is kinda intimidating.

If anyone has experience with either, I appreciate the feedback. My wife is saying deal with it, but it just sucks. So I thank anyone that has .02 on it. Also, if anyone is in the Orlando area and can do it and wants to make a few bucks, that's cool also.

Thanks to all ...

Go to pdaparts.com and get the replacement parts. There is a tutorial on YouTube to fix it. Good luck.

I've heard you can get the parts for $20. I guess it all depends on how much you want to save that cash and how good your skills are. Another option is to have someone else repair it. I've seen quite a few people who do it for around $75 but I don't remember if that includes the parts. They usually guarantee their work.

Good luck with it!

If you live close, send me the phone. The iPhone is very easy to dissamsemble and service.

I fixed a friends iTouch with a cracked screen last year. It is really not that difficut to do, if you follow the directions closely. I'm not sure if there are any major differences between the iPhone and the Touch however.

I sent mine to Mission Repair, one day turnaround and work was flawless. Go ahead and try to do it yourself but don't be disapointed if you mess it up. Fotr the extra couple of bucks between having them do it and you do it, it was peace of mind knowing that I did not have to live with any unprofessional consequenses.

that was my 2 cents
