iPhone warranty is a scam

The mute switch on my iPhone 3G stopped working. Everything else works fine. The phone is in good physical condition. I took it into the Apple store to get it fixed. The tech starts shining a light into the bottom of the phone. He says it has water damage and therefore the warranty is void. The phone has never been in water, plus that has nothing to do with the switch. And that was that.

That little water sensor is a pain. Any moisture from the sound of it will turn it red. You can do an out of warranty repair through Apple now, or do a search on here, I think there was a couple guys that would do phone repairs for a reasonable price.
