View Full Version : How do you demo the phone to others?

I have a couple of people at work that brag constantly about how great their BlackBerry is or how sleek their HTC Touch Pro is. I usually just ignore them since I know the iPhone set the new standard for personal devices but I was thinking about it more and more and wondering....

If you wanted to show off the capabilities of your iPhone to someone, what programs specifically would you choose to show them? I am looking for recommendations of the highest graphic looks, best visuals and sound, something that is so unique to the phone that it just makes them shut up about theirs.

Any suggestions?

I love Shazam, but that's not the best choice IMO, since it is available on other phones as well.

+1 on that.. just show them the screen.. that should be enoungh vs. most any Blackberry user.... or that is is an ipod too, an you only carry one device.

Make a 5 way phone call and then play music at the same time. I really like how you can do everything when youre on a phone call.

Myst is a great looking and playing game.

If you're jailbroken, the NES, SNES, and other emulators are pretty impressive.

Or just fill up your 9 pages of apps and say, "hmm... which one do i wanna show ya... let's see what's on page 7... no, let's go back to page 3... oh, i know, this one on page 9 will do the trick. How many apps do you guys have?"

The ipod is 100x better than any other music player on any phone. Any 3D games will do though. For some reason my phone hates me so if I ever show it off I always have something not work (probably has something to do with beta 3).

Hippo's got the right idea. Or just pull up the App Store and ask them what they're in the mood for.

If they at all surf the web on a regular basis, having them fire up their favorite sites in Safari is usually quite impressive. It's the one thing that the iPhone does that nothing else even comes close.

Beyond that, some sick 3D games are usually in order. Shazam is always cool, too, but a lot of phones have that now.

If you are a NY'er show them UpNext.... if only google maps would use some of this... $2.99 though but well worth it

honestly, google maps rules. bring up their house in street view. thats always neat.

as far as games, i love to show people Topple and Scoops. neither are 3d but make amazing use of the accelorameter. and they're just fun/addicting games.

What are you favorite 3D games Dave?

My wife got a new one called Glyder that shows off 3D rendering fairly well. I get a nice sense of floating in that game.

I have pretty sick looking Springboard to start out with (yay for JB), then I fire up Tap Tap Revenge 2 and let them play a song or two as it shows off the accelerometer and touch screen, then knock them out with the Aircoaster 3D app.

Oh just remembered, x plane! It's a flightbsimulator I have all of the versions (I'm a pilot) except for helicopter and it's good entertainment.

Aircoaster looks brilliant, I am going to get it.

My choice for the app would be either Sims 3 (but it crashes often so maybe not a good one) X-Plane, Orb, SlingMedia Player, Simplify or even LogMeIn Ignition.

Now one app which would be a killer app is Spotify. If that were to come on the iPhone, it'd be awesome! :D
I tend to show off iPint, lol. Midomi is far superior than Shazam. I also show off xPlane and the really amazing games.

Thank God someone realized this.

The iPhone is the cool phone, and cool never has to compete with anything else.

All the effort "the other guys" put into comparing themselves with the iPhone is proof that they know (and hate) this.
