so when my iphone turns on it will just freeze up and then it will reboot.. it will continue to do that untill the battery dies.. What's the best way to restore this WITHOUT losing my contacts. I need my contacts and can't lose them.. any help appreciated! tia.

Nothing you can do to save your contacts or anything else. Did you have a good back up before it started doing this? Any type of restore you do at this point is going to wipe the phone clean. Someone else might have an idea how to save your contacts, assuming you are jailbroke.

yes I am jailbroken.. iphones are really unstable when it is and I was using my gps all day on saturday and for some reason I think it might of caused this huge crash.. I need my contacts and I haven't made any recent backups so...****!

If iTunes is recognizing it you can pull of a backup. Only thing unless you use Outlook or MobileMe or something of the like it won't backup your contacts.

If iTunes is recognizing it, sync it in iTunes with a Google or Yahoo account under contacts. After restoring the phone, sync it in iTunes with the Google/Yahoo acct.

ok well after about the 80th restart this morning (I would say 100 but 80 is more accurate) my iphone turned on and didn't freeze... i'm going to leave my phone on all day and going to make a backup as soon as I get home from work.. I don't know what happend but it had a serious melt down and looks like it recovered (hopefully).

Let us know how it turns out. Definitely back up first chance you get though.
