You know when you press "Play" with nothing actually queued in the iPod? Then it starts playing your songs in alphabetical order?

I've always been mystified as to why apple thinks that's a good idea. Does anyone listen to their ipod in alphabetical order? For all intents and purposes, it's a pseudo-shuffle, as one song is completely unrelated to the one before (or after) it.

so why not make it a TRUE shuffle? That way it will be different every time, and you'd only have to push one button as opposed to opening the ipod, selecting "songs", and then shuffle.

yes, i've submitted the suggestion to apple. thoughts?

another (unrelated) pet peeve i have is that i think videos should be shown with the volume buttons on the TOP so that the up/down direction matches the display on the screen. OR videos should auto-adjust to however it is held like safari.

With the latest 3.0 betas, I've been leaving my phone on for days at a time, so I'm always in shuffle all mode when I hit play. But I agree, that mode should be standard.

When I use iTunes at home I'll alphabetize my songs and then choose shuffle. My iPod Classic does the same though. Every time I plug it into my car it starts at the very first song until I hit shuffle. A lot of times though if it is on shuffle prior to plugging it in it will still default to the first song and then continue to shuffle. Weird.

I agree, hitting play with nothing selected should just shuffle music automatically. If I wanted to play my music alphabetically, which I don't, I would just start with the first song.

Not a huge issue, but something to think about I guess.

So... They added this in 3.0.

Anyone know if it was in the betas?
