Everyone's brightness is already at 50%. That's how it came.

I just realized i've been at 50% the whole time. I changed it to 100% and it is SUPER bright.

Yea, I'm about 20% I think it's plenty bright. I put mine back up to 50% after reading this thread and it was amazed how bright it was in the factory setting. I think everyone should put theirs down to about 25% for a day. You will get used to it and save your battery life.

I used to leave my treo at about 75% for daily use. if i was ever in the sun, Id have to crank it up to 100%.

I'm amazed at how much brighter the iPhone's 40% is than the treo's 75%.

The iPhone's set at 25% for daily use and its perfect. :D

Haha disneyland was my exact thought when i thought about raising the brightness. That's the only time I can remember raising it on my treo.

yeah i was exaggerating. :(

you will notice some battery life increase if you lower it though. Not a tremendous amount. But combine that with turning off wifi when not in use, and turning it to ring as opposed to ring+vibe, and you will get another hour or two. Enough to seriously consider doing it.

train yourself to use lower settings. I was at 100% and then I cut it to30% after that 50% seemed crazy bright. Then dropped it down to 20 and 30 seems real bright. Be qusr your used to the dark

Leading optometrists agree that trying to read something in low light, is much like trying to hear a quiet sound. It will not damage your eyesight.

I have the auto brightness on. This allows the screen to adjust on its own.

Just wondering....

The Auto-Brightness works in conjuction with your screen brightness setting, not in replace of it.

Really? Not doubting, just wondering where you read that.

I can't figure out how to copy and paste from a PDF file (the iPhone manual) but this is where I found it. Here is what it says:

"Choose the brightness AND turn the auto-brightness on or off. If Auto-Brightness is turned on, iPhone adjusts the screen brightness for current light conditions."

I could be wrong, but I take that to mean they work in conjuction with each other. So I figure in the brightest lighting, it won't go past what you set to be your brightness. Obviously in low light, it dims the screen.

That's a little ambiguous. Not sure exactly what it means.

i set mine on around either 75-80%. it is amazingly awesome to see how beautiful the screen is when i watch videos on youtube.
i only charge my iphone once every 2-3 days. im amazed on how long the batteries can last, alot better than my old Samsung slider.
