iPhone V1 to 3rd gen?

When the new one is released sometime in the summer(hopefully). Do i have to wait for my contract to end or can I just sign another 2 year contract with them like i did when i bought my G1?

Not so sure about that. The V1 was not subsidized, so it is very possible that OP is eligible for an upgrade to the new phone at the subsidized price.

you were able to go from the V1 to 3g free of charge in the UK at any time because you were signing up for a new contract. So i would have guessed that you could upgrade to the V3 for free.

Wait till the new iphone comes out...you should get an option online to upgrade with the lower price.

I completely typed the wrong thing. I meant going from V1 to the 3rd gerneration iPhone not the iPhone 3G.

V1 was unsubsidized. You'll be able to upgrade no problem.
