how could i not have immediately thought of Petra Haden "playing" The Who Sells Out?!?! She single-handedly recreated the album, vocals, drums, guitars, keys and all, using only her voice layered over an 8 track recorder.

some tracks work better than others, but the whole album is surprisingly a joy to listen to and much more approachable than it seems.

Guilty as charged......but sucky songs usually dont get covered by other artists. That being said, it is hard to find covers better than the originals. I just post covers that I feel are worthy of a view.:tounge:

My opinion is the same, because I think Hendrix is superior to Dylan. Do you have a cover from someone doing a Hendrix cut where his work has been improved? That would be a difficult task.

Other SRV fans might agree with you that he improved the work of Hendrix, but I do not. While SRV's version of Little Wing is good, maybe as good as Hendrix's version, it didn't make a marked improvement. SRV is badasss though☻

Two reasons why SRV's "Little Wing" is superior to Hendrix's original:

1. All instrumental, no singing to distract from the guitar work
2. No stupid little triangle

And, as mentioned before in this thread, it's only fair. Hendrix himself did a much better job with "All Along the Watchtower" then Dylan did.

the original is a much better song overall. yeah, SRV can rip, but i find his version long and repetitive, whereas Hendrix's is to the point. And, imo, the lyrics are not as disposable as you claim.

speaking of Phish, they were just at Fenway yesterday - i passed by the MASSIVE crowd when i was going to pick up my Schecter from the repair shop in Guitar Center.

it messed with the MBTA schedule, it pissed me off. 15 minute intervals became 45 minutes.
either way, it rained hard on them. i'm not sure if i feel sorry for the audience.
