I am trying to setup my mail.app with my gmail account and every time I set it up POP3 it attempts to download ALL my mail and put in my inbox. Is there a way to NOT download all of them and just from here on out sort of deaL?

Yes. Go into your Gmail settings where you enable POP. There is an option that says enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.

I'm a PC guy so I don't use Mail.app obviously. But I see that it supports IMAP, which would be a much better protocol to use with Gmail. You need to enable IMAP in your settings in Gmail, and there are directions there for how to set up your email client.

Yes, set up IMAP!
I use IMAP with Gmail, it works just fine.

Thanks for the input! I must have overlooked that option when looking at gmail settings. This gmail account was actually for my mother and POP3 would be the easiest for her to get used to.
I have the IMAP configuration setup on my phone and works marvelous.

I think the name spelling of "IMAP4" should be changed to iMap4. IMHO hahaha
