Got my iphone replaced :)

Due to dead pixels...today i went to a local apple store and got a brand new fresh iphone!... all he did was swap simcards and i went home plugged it in to itunes and itunes immediately said do i want to restore a backup from my previous iphone. Clicked yes and now have a brand new iphone...so far i am extremely happy with the pixel perfect phone.

so you had to reenter all of your contacts? Is there a way to export contacts from sim to iTunes?

no i didnt have to save my contacts they were automaticly backuped with itunes.

Cool to read, I had a bad headphone jack went to apple store swap out sim card and activated at the apple store(had my macbook pro), and continued on.

haha yup. I am so happy with apple. I plan to buy a MacBook pro when the new mac os comes out. Anybody know the release date.?

I manually entered all my contacts and you are saying itunes saves them?

hmmm that's strange. Mine restored them from the backup. Or it could of been that when I entered all of my when I first got the phone iTunes backed them up to outlook. I opened outlook and all my contacts got backed up to there.

If you entered a group of contacts into the iPhone directly, then you should sync it next time you plug it in to your computer. Not sure if iTunes saves them itself, but it does transfer them directly from the iPhone to your Contacts (Addressbook with a Mac). It will also sync any contacts you have added directly to your computer, to your iPhone contacts if they are not already there.

Samething works with adding music or videos to the specific playlists you have set up within iTunes.

So, as long as you have "synced" recently between iPhone and computer, you should have a complete backup of everything and your should be able to restore a brand new iPhone to the previous one's state with a one time sync in a couple of minutes.

Actually i used isync with may razr transferred all of my contacts to address book then sync the iphone and I'm out the door.

if u are using windows add input ur contacts into address book start>programs>accessories>address book and u can sync it in itunes its great and even when u store a number on ur phone the next time u sync with itunes it saves it in address book.
