Spring is still working its butt off to arrive in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Today was out walking my dog and cut across a half slush, half snow park when I saw in the snow a IPOD touch. No idea how long it had been there...was wet but was facing screen up. I am taking on the challenge to see if I can get it working and find the owner (assuming they have email or some other application that might help me to track them down).

So far I have done the following...
1. dried it as much as I could.
2. put the blow dryer on it for a while which seemed to dry it out some as a haze disappeared from behind the screen.
3. put a flashlight on the ear phone jack...it is white at the bottom which I have read is a good thing based on what I have read on mixing IPODs with water. Gives me a glimmer of hope.
4. put it in a bag of rice.

Will now let it sit with the rice for a day or two and pick up some sort of charger as I am guessing the battery is dead.

I personally only have a shuffle...so any advice on this would be appreciated...and what do you think the odds are this thing still works?

I would let it go longer. Could take a couple weeks if it was really wet. Good luck, and I hope you find the owner. They would be thrilled!

Depends on if there was salt in the slush or not, if so...it's probably toast, if no salt, the odds are pretty good, provided it hasn't already fried the circuits. Like psylichon said give it ALOT of time to dry in the rice, 10 days to two weeks at minimum and DO NOT try to turn it on to see how it's doing.

The longer the better, i did this with a normal ipod about 6months ago, but it fell into the bath whilst washing me doggy. It was on and totally submerged and bounced off the bottom!

I took it out, strangely it was still on, turned him off and put him in a cool dry place for about 2weeks. Checked him over and he worked fine :)

My major concern is the screen, that may be written off!

Thanks everyone, will let you know how it turns out in a couple weeks. Hopefully no salt Shutter, it was 20 yards from the road...
