For those in the UK, it looks as though the service provider for the iPhone is going to be O2.
Apple has decided instead of striking one Europe-wide deal, it will maximize profits by diversifying its carrier selection. It has been reported T-mobile will most likely provide the iPhone in Germany (its home market), and Orange will provide it in France.
Vodafone took a hit as it has been competing with Orange for the rights to the iPhone. However, Vodafone has been preparing an "iPhone Killer" that may give them some leverage on the market. Both Vodafone ad Orange refuse to comment on said plan.

UPDATE: The iPhone will be premiering in the UK during December, just in time for the Holiday season.
