Why isn't my trash email auto deleting?

I have all my deleted emails go into my iphone trash and set it up where it will delete in 1 day but it doesn't seem to be happening. I still have emails in there since Wed. Unless I didn't set it up right. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks...

maybe it's your server that keeps reloading the emails onto your iPhone? Check your (email) service provider.

If that was the case wouldnt I get them in my new email inbox and not my trash? I am confused lol...

I mean that it may actually update trash emails aswell as the new ones. So then the iPhone will delete the mail from the inbox from the iphone, and then your server will download the trash onto your phone into the trash folder.

You didn't tell us which e-mail provider you were using...having said that, see the KB article below...it's written for MobileMe but might help.

I think another point along the same lines as iphonemonster is that perhaps if your iPhone is refreshing the mail in your trash then your emails are never effectively more then one day old
