This should be big news for lots of people. Not for me.
In other news, "its" no longer auto corrects to "it's". This makes me angry!
EDIT: Beta 4 restores the "its" to "it's". Now it's perfect :)

This is not a bad thing. I don't always use "it's" so it sorta aggravated me that if I wrote "its" it automatically wrote that.
To each their own, I guess.

I love that lol stops going to LOL. And yeah, I noticed it's and I am a bit annoyed.

the lol correcting to LOL was the one thing i hated the most about auto correct. its soo anoying to have to remember to hit the x every single time. so glad they fixed it :)

You guys never "programmed" that out of the dictionary before this? Truly annoying ones like that I always made sure to eliminate after every restore.

You mean by hitting the X 3 times or whatever? If so, I Xed out LOL several thousand times to no avail.

You have to do it 6 times in a row if memory serves. Do it in notepad. Gonna go try it now because for some inexplicable reason my newly restored iPhone is correcting "as" to "A's"
Stupid iPhone.

I'm still on the first beta but I have never been able to stop the phone from correcting lol to LOL. I just tried and mine isn't correcting as to A's. That is odd

It doesn't change as to A's for me maybe it's a V1 thing, I also noticed it does not auto correct the four letter words you can't say on TV either.

just curious.. is there any way that that you could manually edit the dictionary? as in SSH into some file and edit it?

You can try this
Go into Google search bar in Safari... then type in the word you want it to remember. Two or three times should do it. Now exit out and go try creating a SMS message with that word... should work flawlessly.
In 2.2.1 safari would refresh the dictionary much better than any other method I found.

Lot's of weird typing stuff corrected with 3.0: my phone'd never type various letters in sequence.... like two r's....it always typed rE , I'd have to correct...there were numerous others....when typing the slash it'd automatically correct almost whatever I tried to type in after the slash...when I'd abbreviate say, Th for thursday....it'd replace the h with something else always....
Anyway, all is straightened1
REALLY liking 3.0 guys!
This version runs smoother than my 2.2.1

Yeah, that used to work. Doesn't now in 3.0. I've tried to do it in several apps to no avail.

I was always annoyed by, "he'll"
With 3.0 I can finally type my email address into a web page text field without having to backspace and correct!! Yay!

"It's" to "its" restored in beta 4, while maintaining lowercase lol. Nice!
