My guess is your IT crew needs to make an "A Host" record on the DNS server. It needs to point your server address (example server.domain.com) to the server's internal address. To test, if you turn off Wifi and go on 3G... if your email is working then I'd say that's your problem. Currently it's probably trying to access your server using the external address.

PapaST is right. I suspect the same thing. Your iPhone is trying to use the external address. Most routers/firewall don't allow you to go out and come back in via the same connection. That's probably too much info. :)

I am having the same issue, I went in and checked our dns server and everything is there. I don't receive the push email, but if I refresh manually I'll get my email.

Is your account setup as POP or using Exchange Active Sync?

It's setup on exchange. I noticed one of the DNS servers was missing the exchange ptr record so I added that. There are no internal mx records for our exchange server, just the A and the PTR. I did take notice that if the phone is not locked, it will get messages immediately when on our internal wifi, but once it locks I get nothing until mail is checked manually.

I don't think you need to worry about internal MX records.

This seems like a tough one. Are you able to SEND emails on the wifi?

So if I understand correctly... "outside wifi" and 3G pushes your emails to you without a problem.

Just when you are on internal wifi you cannot get emails unless you manually do it. If your phone was not set to lock for a longer period (say 20 minutes)... would emails eventually push to your phone? Or do you still have to manually refresh it? Possibly wifi disabling when the phone is locked???

I forgot to add... just for kicks, try removing the account and set them back up on 3G. Not that I expect this to help out the situation much but you never know. May need to try it with and without SSL.
