is there a way to select an interactive calender as the background/wallpaper?

I know there's no way to really know for sure but speculations sake....

I would say prob not right off. I'm sure there will be a way to make a still calender (non-interactive) a background if its a pic file. BUt the main screen (before unlocking) is a locked pic and after unlocking, it has the buttons on it. The only interactive calender I'm aware it has, is a feature under the menu.
