Email "Reply to"

I posted this at Apple too, but in case anyone can help over here:

I have multiple e-mails accounts that I use for various purposes. I have an exchange server at work, but I find VPN a pain in the a$s, so I had the IT director set up my account to auto CC a copy of each of my work e-mails to my private e-mail account. When I reply from that account I can just use the "reply-to" field to make sure that my recipient, if they should reply to THAT message, isn't replying to my private e-mail address.

I'd love for the iPhone to include this feature... or is it there and I'm missing it?

In Outlook, the way I do it is have multiple "send only" accounts set up... with the reply-to fields different for each. When I compose an e-mail I can choose which account to send from. When the recipient gets it, to them it looks like it came from my work account, and when they reply that's the address they're replying to.

In Apple's Mail, I can just fill in the reply-to field with whatever I want... or I could set it up just like Outlook with a "send only" account.

On the iPhone, Just like we have the option to turn the CC field on and off, I'd love to have the option to turn the reply-to field on and off, like you do in Apple's Mail program on a laptop/desktop... or I'd love the ability to set up multiple send-only accounts that I could pick from when I go to send new mail or reply to an existing one...

Hope you all follow what I mean...

Anyone have suggestions?

I currently have my Gmail set up to forward to an IMAP account, so my incomming mail server is the IMAP, and my outgoing is gmail's smtp. This way all replies will come from my gmail address. Something like this may work for you

that idea is fantastic. I'm assuming you're not using yahoo's IMAP? I keep hearing that yahoo's IMAP servers are not public, so I'm guessing this can't be done using a yahoo acct?

Yahoo email will always show that the email is coming from ____@yahoo.com email address...no way I have found yet to manipulate it to look like it is goig from _____@yourdomainname.com.

i did that too. now all of my mail forwards to yahoo and is pushed.

But is your mail being sent from yahoo? Thats what's different about what I did. I use a different SMTP to send mail

No, because I need to be able to reply from a specific, already existing address. Plus I get work and personal e-mail into the same inbox, so it would be nice to be able to hit "reply" to the one I want and choose which account to send from.

Theres no way to do a reply-to or reply as address from the iPhone. Only option is to use a different SMTP (which does come from a specific address if you use a username and password with the SMTP)

I kinda figured I couldn't do it for now... that's okay, I can live with it for now. Hopefully at least a "reply to" field will be added in the future... or the ability to set up send-only accounts that you can choose to send from.

I spent the last hour setting up a couple of free IMAP email accts that say they offer push.

I could easily set the IMAP for incoming and my work SMTP for oitgouing, but it won't push at all.

Apple was kind enough to Yahoo to allow ONLY Yahoo provide push email to the iPhone.

I find this EXTREMELY Jewish. No offense.

Under Account information use your work email (this is what they will reply to)

Under Incoming Mail Server use your private address (used to check for mail)

Yes, but then I'd have to have a 2nd account set up the same way, except under Account Info my personal e-mail address. It will get confusing over time which mails I've replied to and not because their will be an individual e-mail inbox for each account.

All I want is the ability, eventually (hopefully), to when I reply to a message in ANY inbox, to choose the account I'm sending from... and hence, the reply-to address.

I also don't need to use CWMX.com as my outgoing. I'm using port :587 through my own provider. CWMX.com is great in a pinch, but doesn't let you send mail through a WiFi connection.
